The Government of Canada is renewing the relationship with First Nations, Inuit and Métis based on the recognition of rights, respect and partnership.

Through its programs and initiatives, Justice Canada is:

  • responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) Calls to Action
  • responding to the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls’ (National Inquiry) Calls for Justice, the National Action Plan and the Federal Pathway
  • implementing the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (UN Declaration Act) Action Plan measures in consultation and cooperation with Indigenous peoples
